These were definitely a labour of love! It took me and entire summer scavenging through yard sales to find the perfect combination of plates to create not one but six of these stepping stones! Although they turned out beautifully, I will never attempt this project again. It wasn't as easy as I had thought! I'm glad I tried my hand at these though, I've always admired other crafters stepping stones.
I painted this sign for our cottage!

Wanted to try something a little different...

A few more pieces to add to my gallery!! SOLD

Coming back to the cottage!

I'ld forgotten~I do every spring~ how beautiful our coveside cottage is. I often wonder if I lived here year round would my eyes grow numb, my heart incensitive to all the beauties that surround us at our lakehouse?

It's the coming back each spring the renews the memories of last summer. When our red chevy turns onto Soapstone Point and I see the ripples on the water glistening like diamonds across the water, it's then that I realized I've been holding my breath and wondering will the magic be here again like summers past?

Coming back to the cottage is what I like to call a labour of love. It's love when you first turn into the gravel driveway and see the white squeaky screen door and the beautiful cedar trees surrounding our cottage. It's labour when you walk inside and realize the winter has dulled the wood surfaces and it's time to mob dust and clean windows. Not to mention strip all the beds and replace them with clean linens. Outside, the grass will need to be cut soon and the driftwood that has found it's way into our bay will find a new home piled up on the bank creating a buffer for the waters edge.
The joys always outweigh the labour and we will never grow tired of our little soapbox cottage on the lake!!!! Life's simple little pleasure... these are what I live for!

Tough Times In This Bloggers Coop

Wow... I've been blogging for sometime now and I just don't understand why I can't seem to get any followers:( Not sure what I'm doing wrong... if there's anyone out there who can help me please let me know as I'm beginning to get a little discouraged. Who wants to blog if there's nobody readin'? Anyhoo, I'm sure nobody will see this post so again I'll have nobody reply. Does it sound like I'm feelin' sorry fo myself? Well I am and as they say "It's my blog and I'll cry if I want to, you would cry too if nobody was listening to youuuuuuuu"! No but seriously I am a bit confused and would like any tips you could give me:)

A Day At The Cottage With Gracie

Well if you haven't already figured it out Gracie is my golden retriever. Yesterday we went out the the cottage to do some spring cleaning and get ready for those lazy days at the cottage with family and friends. What a gorgeous day it was...nose is red shoulders are red but I'm not complaining I've been waiting all winter for this. Our winters here in Northwester Ontario are bloody cold -40 on some days so do you see why I cherish every day of summer?

Saturday Morning at the Gallery

Woke up this morning to my husband getting ready for work. He's a police officer so his days start at 5:30 a.m... a little too early for me to be waking up on a saturday morning. Try as I may I couldn't get back to sleep, so I hopped out of bed, went downstairs and made myself a nice steaming hot pot of coffee. With coffee and blueberry scone in hand I went to the computer and checked out the local yard and estate sales for the day. Normally, I would neven consider going out g'saling on a morning I would have to work at the Gallery but what else was there to do? I Gathered up all of my art supplies for the day and headed out the door. The first sale I went to I found all sorts of treasures~ an old barn birdhouse~ a wooden foot stool(perfect for those hard to reach items at the cottage)~ a fish license plate to hand in the outhouse...so many treasures! Well thankfully that sale was a treasure trove because everything after that was uneventful. Oh well, I finished just in time to make it to the gallery on time. I've been here two hours and I have alread made four bracelets and finished a collage I've been working on. I think I'll start on a second collage, I'm entering a contest where the only requirement is you incorporate sea shells into your art work. Hmmm the possibilities are endless!!!!

Pretty Pottery!

This has found a home at my cottage... perfect for kitchen gadgets!

There's something about pottery that makes a house a home. I picked up all three of these items at an estate sale a couple of weeks back. While I was walking around with these the daughter of the woman who had passed away pulled me aside to tell me how her mom was a potter and made these with love. I Wish I could have know this lady by the sounds of it she was a lovely soul.

Garage Sale Gems

Brrrrrrrrrrrr... was it cold this morning at 6:30 a.m. Pulled on my warm socks and dressed myself up in layers, I even found myself putting my wool gloves. May and we're still getting snow in Northwestern Ontario, they call it gods country but mother nature sure has her hand in the weather. Oh well, when you love g'saling as much as I do you're willing to battle the elements for that rare find or great deal. I love recreating the items I find into works of art. Today I found these beautiful pendants; they were originally laced together to form a belt but I have a much better plan for these beauties.

I "Heart" You Mom

I often think about my childhood, Mom. Some memories are happy, some memories are sad but through it all you gave me all the love you ever had. I think of all you gave to me: Sacrifice, devotion, love and tears, your heart, your mind, your energy and soul ~ All these you spent on me throughout the years. And then you did the hardest thing of all ~ you let me fly and set me free. I can only hope to be a mother to Emma and Adam like the mom you were to me.

Emma's Garden - Pen and Ink

My fifteen year old daughter and I have a relationship that I'll always cherish. She's an amazing girl and has so many qualities I admire in a woman. When she asked me to draw her a picture for her room I was so honoured. This garden is full of colour and wonder... just like my daughter.

Nake North Art Gallery

The gallery is opened and we've already had some sales and good feed back from the community. We have so many talented artists and crafters living in Dryden, I'm sure there will be enough work to show that the gallery will always have something new for our customers to look at. I'm looking forward to working my first shift tomorrow evening.
