My Cabin Journal

Garage sales were FANTASTIC this weekend ... I found so many treasure but this one was particularly special!!!

I've been searching for the perfect journal to record  special times shared with family and friends at our lake house.   You can imagine my SURPRISE when I spotted this beautifully crafted journal.  Could it be the very same journal I had picked up awhile back at a quaint little boutique about four hours from here?  I've been regretting putting that journal back ever since... kicking myself for not spending the $31.95.
Well I wasn't going to let that happen again, I picked that journal up and held it close making my way to the previous owner and happily handing him my payment of .50 cents.

Love the sweet little saying carefully placed on the front...

and this little note written on the inside cover!

I couldn't be happier... I love it to pieces !!!

This handcrafted country shelf will find a new home in the Loo out at the cottage... 75 cents

When I spotted this baby I almost knocked a women over trying to get to it before it was snatched up. This will be perfect outside our bedroom window filled with bird seed...I can't think of anything better to wake up to in the morning than the birds singing and having their breakfast.5 dollars

These are fridge magnets ~ 250 words per pkg. The first thing I did after arriving home was create an inspirational saying and put it on my fridge. Food is not to feed the soul! EAT only when hunger strikes:) 50 cents

A sea grass basket to keep our mittens and toques organized this winter just 5 dollars.

Some pewter pendants for future jewelry projects just 50 cents~ a steal of a deal wouldn't you say?

Saturday Mornin' G'Saling

When I heard the phone ringing this morning at 7:30 I must say I was rather relieved. The dream I was having was very disturbing and really quite stressful. My late kitty cat Harley Barley who passed away about four years ago, my husbands best friend and his wife a fellow police officer and her husband.... oh and I almost forgot to mention the Mr. Clean man in all of his balding glory all made an appearance in my dream. I won't get into the details because this story would be much too long and I'm sure you all have things to do today.

Anyhoo, my girlfriend Michelle was on the other end of the phone apologizing for the early morning phone call and would I like to go garage saling. After a long pause and finally getting my head straight I agreed it would be a dandy idea. The weather here has been less than enjoyable, we've had day after day of rain and storms making people here in the Wilderness City a bit melancholy. So Garage saling seemed like a good way to get out and about to see and talk to people...besides deals always make me giddy.

All in all it was a wonderful morning...lots of laughs and a delicious breakfast at the Central made for a great start to a saturday.

If you want to see pics of some of the deals I found take a peek back tomorrow:)

G'Saling with my Hubby

yaaaawwwwwwwn"honey what time is it"? DH says "6:00 a.m. go back to sleep it's Saturday"! eyes fly open... it's Saturday! how is one to sleep when there are treasures waiting to be found? my feet drop to the floor and I do the usual Saturday morning ritual of brushing my teeth, making coffee and checking out the yard sale advertisements. yippeeee there's two pages of them and i can't wait to get started but it's only 6:20, the first sale doesn't start until 7:30 am. hmmmm this gives me plenty of time to drink my coffee and make a strategically planned out route. tic toc tic toc goes the clock~i walk upstairs to our room to grab a sweater, it's a bit chilly out this morning! DH stirs a bit in his sleep..."oops did i wake you"? he turns over in bed and throws the blankets over his head with a sigh and i say "well seeing as you're up, do you wanna come garage saling with your lovely wife"? surprisingly he slowly sits up and says "sure"! o.k. I'm speechless here~what the heck has happened to my DH? normally he would have looked at me like i was crazy and went right back to sleep or at least he would have pretended he was asleep! i like this new guy:) "let's get going then... the first one starts in 10 minutes!!!! we pull up to the first house a 7:30 sharp and the rest is history. I did get some great deals today though, seven brand new canvases still in the packaging ~$4.00 beautiful china sugar bowls...these will be perfect for the bird feeders I've been planning to make for the gallery $10.00 great charms and bead $.75 spending the morning with my DH PRICELESS. you know what this means though...i have to get to work and start making more arts and crafts... that's what Sundays are for!

From boring to WOW!

It was a freezing and rainy sunday morning but I was on a mission to find materials for my arts and crafts. I went to a safe grad fundraiser where I spotted four cutting boards just like this one. I couldn't resist, I knew right away what I was going to do with them. I finished these two signs and I'll post pictures of my other two when there complete!!!! What do you think?

Pretty Pottery!

This has found a home at my cottage... perfect for kitchen gadgets!

There's something about pottery that makes a house a home. I picked up all three of these items at an estate sale a couple of weeks back. While I was walking around with these the daughter of the woman who had passed away pulled me aside to tell me how her mom was a potter and made these with love. I Wish I could have know this lady by the sounds of it she was a lovely soul.

Sugar Bowl Hanging Pot SOLD

Found this vintage sugar bowl at a garage sale last saturday, attached the lid to the bottom, added some beads to add some glitz and voila!

Garage Sale Gems

Brrrrrrrrrrrr... was it cold this morning at 6:30 a.m. Pulled on my warm socks and dressed myself up in layers, I even found myself putting my wool gloves. May and we're still getting snow in Northwestern Ontario, they call it gods country but mother nature sure has her hand in the weather. Oh well, when you love g'saling as much as I do you're willing to battle the elements for that rare find or great deal. I love recreating the items I find into works of art. Today I found these beautiful pendants; they were originally laced together to form a belt but I have a much better plan for these beauties.
